Hello there! I’m Christy, and my journey into the world of vintage treasures began like many great love stories – completely by accident.
What started as casual thrifting trips to furnish my first home blossomed into something much bigger than I ever imagined. I’ve always had an eye for unique pieces and the stories they tell, but I never thought this passion would become my livelihood and creative outlet.

From Necessity to Passion
When my son was born 10 years ago, everything changed. Like many new parents, I found myself searching for flexible ways to earn income while being present for those precious early years. I tried my hand at several side hustles – from freelance writing to selling handmade crafts – before discovering my true calling in the world of reselling.
I started small, primarily flipping clothing finds from local thrift stores. There was something deeply satisfying about rescuing a quality piece, researching its background, and connecting it with someone who would truly appreciate it. But it wasn’t until I ventured into home decor that I found my sweet spot.
Finding My Niche
I developed an instinct for spotting undervalued items – whether it was a forgotten mid-century lamp tucked behind holiday decorations or a set of Danish modern dining chairs priced as ordinary furniture.
As my inventory and expertise grew, so did my business. What began as online sales through various platforms evolved into my own brick-and-mortar shop, The Vintage Eclectic Co. The pinnacle of this chapter was establishing a monthly vintage market that connected local collectors, decorators, and enthusiasts with carefully sourced treasures.
Evolution and Reinvention
As any creative entrepreneur knows, passions evolve. After years of thrill-seeking through estate sales and auctions, I felt the familiar stirring of change. The joy of the hunt remained, but I found myself wanting to keep more pieces than I sold – a sure sign it was time for a new chapter.
I turned my attention to our own home, applying all the knowledge I’d gathered over the years to create spaces that felt authentically “us.” Finding my unique style became a journey of experimentation and discovery – mixing periods and styles in ways that felt harmonious while telling our family’s story.
Why This Blog Exists
This blog is the natural extension of a decade spent immersed in the world of vintage and second-hand treasures. I’ve accumulated so much knowledge – from identifying valuable pieces to negotiating at estate sales to styling disparate finds into cohesive rooms – that keeping it to myself seems almost selfish.
Here, I share:
- Reselling wisdom for those looking to turn their thrifting hobby into profit
- Thrifting strategies to help you find diamonds in the rough
- Budget-friendly decorating ideas using vintage and second-hand finds
- Authentication tips to help you spot the real deal
- Styling advice for mixing vintage pieces with modern elements
My approach isn’t about creating museum-perfect spaces or breaking the bank on collector’s items. It’s about finding beauty in the overlooked, value in the discarded, and creating homes that feel collected rather than decorated.
My Philosophy
I believe that the most interesting homes tell stories through their objects. That sustainability and style can coexist beautifully. That you don’t need unlimited funds to create spaces with soul and character.
Most importantly, I believe that the joy of vintage hunting is available to everyone – regardless of budget, location, or design experience. Sometimes you just need someone to show you what to look for and how to see the potential in pieces others walk right past.
